About Us

Canterbury's largest whitewater kayak club

The Canterbury Whitewater Club (previously known as the Whitewater Canoe Club) was formed around 1980. We are the largest whitewater club in New Zealand, with a membership of about 290.

The club is a member of Whitewater New Zealand (the national association) www.rivers.org.nz

The club organises kayaking trips on South Island rivers, ranging from Grades 2 to 4, and runs two comprehensive beginner courses each spring.

The club participates in river and water management and conservation issues that affect our enjoyment of the rivers we paddle.

The club is managed by a Committee that is elected annually. We are a registered Incorporated Society and have a constitution which governs what we do, what members can expect and what is expected of them. Contact the club if you wish to find out more.
